A name like Blank Park Zoo probably sets expectations rather low. However, Iowa’s only accredited zoo is home to 104 species and 1,484 animal specimens. You can get up-close-and-personal with hissing cockroaches, big cats and wallabies. Animal exhibits and facilities sprawl over 22 acres, meaning it’s not so big that you’ll never see the animals, but small enough that really little kids can easily walk the park without complaining too much. Check out the fascinating (surprisingly breathtaking) jellyfish exhibit.
