This self-guided tour of Dublin’s most famous brewery and storehouse is a must, even if you’re not a fan of Guinness. Exhibits throughout the historic building in St. James’s Gate present an overview of the brewery’s history, machinery, production process, advertising and other nostalgia, and you can explore videos and other displays that explain the processes in detail. The tour ends upstairs at the Gravity Bar, a round sky lounge with glass walls overlooking the city where, if you’re over 18, your tour ticket gets you a free pint of your choice. A gift shop at the end of the tour offers just about every kind of Guinness paraphernalia you can imagine, ideal for souvenirs. To avoid heavy crowds, plan to arrive before noon.
