This cathedral of the Church of Ireland, which has occupied this site in its different iterations for more than eight centuries, is designated Ireland’s National Cathedral. Its beautiful architecture is punctuated with high ceilings, flying buttresses and painted glass windows. On display are centuries-old flags and armor of the Knights of St. Patrick as well as a 4,000-pipe organ. Today, the cathedral’s serene beauty lends itself well to performances from visiting choirs, evening concerts and daily worship, which includes international services geared toward people from all walks of life. Visitors should take care not to disturb any services taking place throughout the day, or to take pictures during these times. Your best bet is to opt for the guided tour.
