Founded in 1958, this museum currently takes up prime real estate on Las Olas Boulevard in a structure designed by renowned American architect Edward Larrabee Barnes. Its diverse exhibits have included Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs and American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell. Along with showcasing artistic works, it also houses a studio school inaugurated in 2003 that offers classes in painting, drawing and design taught by professional artists. Recently the school expanded to include classes in ceramics, sculpture, computer graphics and culinary arts. Explore the collection of more than six thousand works influenced by the South Florida and Caribbean culture. When it’s time for a break, grab a table and refreshment at Books & Books, the onsite museum café.
