A fixture of the colorful Montrose neighborhood, the Empire attracts legions of loyal fans to its breakfasts (omelets and frittatas served all day) and made-from-scratch sticky buns and scones. But the Bohemian scene beautifully transitions to evening cocktails with pasta, chicken parmigiana and other Italian entrees. These meals, too, are perhaps best topped off with something sweet, such as a slice of hummingbird cake made with pecans, bananas, cinnamon and cream cheese frosting.
