Five generations of the Stout family have been keeping Hoosiers well heeled. In fact, Stout’s Footwear is the oldest shoe store in the United States and has occupied its Massachusetts Avenue location since 1886. There are modern brands like New Balance, Nike and Rockport, but the Baldwin Flyer pulley system is a throwback to the early 1900s.
