You can see the Sunsphere from miles away, casting its glittery shadow over downtown Knoxville. But that’s not the only reason to visit World’s Fair Park, though a trip up to the top of the tower is a must. Built in 1982, when Knoxville had the honor of hosting the World’s Fair, the entire park houses artifacts of the exhibit. It’s adjacent to the Knoxville Convention Center, so weekdays see large lunchtime crowds around the fountain and occasional performances by musicians and street performers. The large fountains are popular with children and families during the hot, humid summer months.
