Going to Milan and not seeing Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, The Last Supper, is like going to Paris and skipping the Eiffel Tower. Leonardo’s famous 15th-century fresco, housed at Santa Maria delle Grazie, has earned a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It took da Vinci three years to complete the 15- by 29-foot piece that was commissioned by Ludovico Sforza to be the centerpiece of a mausoleum. The Last Supper portrays the reaction given by each of the 12 apostles when Jesus tells them one of them would betray him and eventually come back to save him.
