Nice is famous as a resort thanks to its idyllic year-round climate, so dressing for the weather is never a big concern. Pack a swimming suit for the beach, light dresses and shirts/tops and slacks for around town, and a light sweater for strolling around come evening. Jeans are fine for more casual establishments. But this is France—with definite fashion dos and don’ts if you care to blend in. Shorts and flip-flops are best only at the beach, and athletic shoes of any kind will make it clear that you are not a local.
