The tiny nation of Monaco makes for a quick and easy journey from Nice. The best way is via train, with departures about every 15 minutes. The route, which hugs the rocky coastline of the Mediterranean much of the way, is sure to impress. The trip itself takes only about 20 minutes each way. After arriving at Monte Carlo’s train station, head down the hill to see Casino de Monte Carlo and the beautiful park that surrounds it. Then wander along the coast line to the marina, where you can have a drink or snack. You will need your energy to make the climb up the steep cliff to the oldest part of town, where the palace of the monarchy is, and the cathedral where Monaco’s most famous resident, Princess Grace, is buried.
