From October through May, the National Theater is the city’s premiere venue for opera, ballet and stage plays, putting on world-class productions from both local and international maestros. While the music and dance here can be spellbinding, much of the fun is just gawking at the glorious décor of this gilt and curlicued neoclassical building from 1883.
