Three on the Bund recently welcomed Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Mercato, a primarily Italian dining concept with a rustic chic interior of reclaimed wood, exposed steel and warm tones. The excellent pizzas are baked in the central wood-fired oven, ranging from simple (crushed tomato and garlic) to the more refined (the three cheese wild mushroom pizza with a fresh farm egg on top has a superb balance of flavors). There are also a handful of praise-worthy house-made pastas and straightforward desserts. For the location, it’s a steal.
