Named for the 17th century steps installed by Danes years ago, families, couples and solo travelers enjoy scaling the steps as an active diversion from shopping and eating. Charlotte Amalie’s streets are narrow and steep, which is how these steps got here in the first place. Bricks brought over from Denmark were used to build this rustic staircase. Count the number of steps as you climb, and you’ll soon learn that there are actually 103 steps.
