Lake Ella is popular with those looking for a beautiful place to exercise outdoors as well as parents who are looking for a fun place to take the kids. There is a walking trail all the way around the lake and there are always lots of ducks and birds for the kids to feed. This 12-acre lake and 6.5-acre park is also home to The Cottages at Lake Ella, historic stone cottages built in the late 1920s and early 1930s as part of the Tallahassee Motor Motel. The Cottages now house restaurants and specialty boutiques, and every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to dusk there is a Grower’s Market sponsored by Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s Small Farm Programs located right behind The Cottages.
