Bangkok has no shortage of temples, but if you have time for only two make sure you see Wat Arun and Wat Pho. The former (Temple of Dawn) is among the city's most iconic structures and has been called "Angkor Wat lite"—though the steep, narrow climb to the top should put paid to that notion. The views from the 260-foot-high pinnacle are spectacular. The Khmer-inspired tower was built in several stages, so you'll see a fascinating mix of both Hindu and Buddhist architectural flourishes. Wat Pho is the city's largest and oldest Buddhist temple and is famed for its monster-size reclining gold Buddha (150 feet long). But it's also home to a school of traditional Thai massage where you can get a 30-minute massage for less than $10 and also learn about the ancient practice in English.
