It is inferred that during the time period from 1200 to 1530, the San Gervasio site became the largest and most important site in the area. At the heart of the ruins, you can find the most significant temples, nine structures that enclose the center of the ancient Mayan civilization. Cozumel is around 46 miles from Cancun, so budget your time accordingly.
