There may be no better place to admire the Tetons than from on the crystalline (and, OK, sometimes choppy) surface of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park. The mountains rise dramatically off the lake’s western shore, with no foothills to block the view, casting dramatic reflections on the surface of the water. The marina at Colter Bay village rents canoes and kayaks by the hour, and an afternoon on the water can include sightings of trumpeter swans, pelicans, moose and other bird and animal species that loiter along the shoreline. The lake is a reservoir of the dammed Snake River, and when you’re ready to relax your paddling muscles, you can grab a namesake Snake River Lager from the bar next door to the marina.
