When General James White settled here with a land grant from North Carolina in 1786 founding the future city of Knoxville, little did he know that visitors today would be tromping through his parlor trying to obtain a glimpse of how life was lived in Tennessee generations ago. Original tools, furniture and household objects are well displayed and travelers can take a self-guided tour of the seven cabins, museum, loom room and smithy.
