Situated in Villa Doyle, the restored, 18th-century home of the first chief justice of the Bahamas, this museum is a fitting setting for the lush art of this archipelago nation. The collection includes both contemporary and historical art—although the documented artistic history of the Bahamas doesn’t reach that far back. Works exhibited include the abstract drawings and paintings of Kendal Hanna, paintings by primitivist (and former house painter) Amos Ferguson and the matriarchal themes of Stanley Burnside.
