From 1690 to 1720, privateers-turned-pirates literally ruled the Bahamas. There were plenty of private bays and shallow waters in which to hide, drawing such notorious characters as Calico Jack and Captain Edward Teach (Blackbeard). At this museum, the curious can explore the replica of the early 18th-century pirate ship “Revenge” and experience a “boarding” by Blackbird and his “fearsome” crew. Check out remnants of the pirates’ lives (cutlasses, pistols, coins), and artworks depicting the golden age of piracy.
