If you only have one day in Nice, you could spend it happily without spending a euro cent by simply strolling the ancient streets and open-air markets. From the flower and food markets and crowded cafes of the Cours Saleya to the beachfront Promenade Anglais to window-shopping the local boutiques at Place Massena and top labels on Rue Paradis, Nice is a dream destination for both the (temptation-resistant) budget traveler as well as the high-rollers who frequent its shores. With beautiful weather nearly year-round and breathtaking landscapes everywhere you look, it’s easy to see why this is France’s second-most-visited city and perhaps the most expensive real estate market in the world. Yet, somehow Nice has managed to preserve the rustic, old world charm that made it so attractive in the first place.
