Enveloped by mountains and blessed by almost year-round sunshine and blue skies, Phoenix and its outlying neighborhoods are home to more than 200 golf courses, some of which are lighted come nightfall. In fact, the state of Arizona has more golf courses per capita than any other state west of the Mississippi River. Many of the courses in Phoenix have been designed by greats such as Arnold Palmer and Tom Weiskopf. What’s more, Phoenix is home to what is purportedly the most-attended golf tournament on the PGA Tour, the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Some of Phoenix’s finest courses are sheltered in desert canyons where the outside world feels light-years away, while others are folded into luxury resorts where golfers can indulge in a round of golf followed by a massage and five-course meal.
