What started as a tiny one-room gallery showcasing local artwork in the early 1900s is now an internationally recognized art museum and Utah’s primary cultural resource for global visual arts. Housing more than 18,000 works in more than 20 galleries, the UMFA is located on the University of Utah’s campus and has a vast permanent collection that focuses on multicultural works. If you’re a lover of art, you must make time for one of the fascinating UMFA exhibitions or events when you’re in town.
