The recent expansion of this museum marks the largest rehabilitation project in the history of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Walk through the entrance marked by an 86-foot-tall steel and glass lantern to enjoy more than 82,000 square feet of exhibitions and installations from emerging artists as well as a permanent collection of more than 4,500 artworks from names like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. Fashion couture from Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta and Givenchy are also part of the museums permanent collection along with The Walter O. Evans Collection of African American Art. Done in a façade of original 19th-century Savannah gray brick and modern composite materials, the building also includes outdoor lecture and performance spaces, a 250-seat theater, an outdoor event terrace and a museum café and shop.
